The Coronavirus outbreak continues to be a threat worldwide. The highly transmissible BF.7 strain of the Omicron variant seems to be behind the latest surge in COVID infections globally. China, Japan, South Korea, US and Brazil have seen a spike in cases. As a precautionary measure we are prepared to tackle the new COVID surge.

Fever Clinic

The process of early screening of infection or suspected cases in the fever clinic has become a key part of the fight against the COVID pandemic. The separate fever clinic has been established from the initial phase of COVID pandemic in our hospital. The fever clinic will be upgraded and restarted for early detection and to prevent the spread of COVID 19 infection.

COVID-19 Emergency:

The alarming situation created by the second wave of COVID 19 outbreak lead COVID 19 Unified Central Hospital to establish a separate 7 bedded COVID-19 Emergency Room which runs 24 hours a day.

Each shift of COVID 19 Emergency is managed by 2 doctors and 2 nurses with the help of 2 attendants. It will be activated in case of new COVID surge.

COVID Inpatient Management

The separate floor is dedicated for COVID inpatient management. The 35 bedded COVID ICU equipped with ventilators with 59 bedded HDU are ready to manage the COVID surge. This can be expanded to 70 bedded ICU, 100 bedded COVID HDU, 100 bedded COVID ward in case of severe COVID surge.

The COVID Inpatient is managed by the help of 16 Medical officers, 115 Nursing staffs, 25 ward assistants with the support of COVID Consultants.

Laboratory services

The COVID PCR lab has been started since April 6, 2020. The COVID antigen test has been performed for rapid result. Other laboratory services have been running smooth as well.
